Intentional Asymmetry

Handwoven cord: sage + celadon, hand-knotted single strand of soft, matte diamond cut serpentine, matte turquoise, bronze and patina bronze findings, punched coin clasp. ~18”

For me, this is another everyday piece, to be worn as a talisman to its bearer. I always like to do something for the nape. There is the most subtle and very intentional asymmetry in the placement of the beads closest to the clasp, and those that rest on the nape. You might not otherwise notice the displaced alignment. It’s just for the wearer, or for your admirer. Subtle color change in the cording goes from sage to celadon, which complements the rich hue of these soft faceted serpentine cubes.

This piece could be worn multiple ways, with the beads around the nape and the coin clasp as the focal point in front. The loop of the clasp could also be notched around the first two beads for a fitted look.

Serpentine, or New Jade is a magical stone, its lore rooted in its connection to the heart chakra, and is said to promote healing of the heart and lungs, as well as cellular regeneration and energetic rejuvenation.
